The holiday season is fast approaching, which will see people turn to their devices and shop for entertainment. With that said, Meta adds new holiday tools to help creators capitalize on the opportunities. With its new activations, Meta hopes to provide new incentives within its creator offerings, potentially improving appeal. Among Meta’s new additions are an expansion of digital gifts, extra account promotion options, a holiday bonus program, and more.

Meta’s Toy Bag

First, let us look at Meta’s planned expansion of its digital gifts. Meta is making digital gifts on Instagram available in more regions, providing creators with more opportunities to earn.

As Meta explains:

“We recently expanded access to gifts to creators in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey.”

In addition, Meta is rolling out new, seasonal-themed virtual gifts on Facebook from November 6 until year-end. Gifts can be good for driving additional revenue for creators, with a percentage of them returning to them. They are a type of virtual donation; instead of tips, they come in the form of stickers.

Creators must have over 5,000 followers to be eligible for gifts while operating a professional account. Meta is also implementing a new, invite-only “Holiday Bonus” program for creative talent. The program will reward top stars based on the number of Reels plays and photo views they get during the bonus period. That will give users an extra push to keep posting, which helps Meta maximize its content flow during the period.

On another front, Meta is also looking to make it easier for creators to grow their following. There is also a new “Subscribe” button that will appear when a creator’s followers see their content in Feed. On top of that, Meta is also adding more ways to drive creator subscriptions on Facebook. Among the included bonuses is the ability for creators to offer free 30-day subscription trials to their fans.

Lastly, Meta is also adding some new guidance for creators to help them optimize their content for potential ad partnerships. That will help creators ensure they maximize their advertising potential by avoiding potential issues that could restrict monetization.

The Wrap

Creators remain a primary focus for Meta because it knows that it needs creative talent for its Metaverse push. If Meta hopes to maintain engagement levels, then it also needs creative talent to make sure that people come back. More repeat visitors means more emphasis on Reels on Facebook and Instagram.

While retro clips from old TV shows do well, creators are the ones who maximize retention. Furthermore, creators play a critical role in guiding the next generation into the Metaverse as it continues to evolve. To that end, Meta adds new holiday tools to help ensure creators have a reason to be truly festive.
