Finally, a new Twitter update! Well, at least this is the closest Twitter has come to delivering a completely novel idea ever since Chief Twit Elon Musk took the reins. So, just what is this new mystery that’s floating around the platform? Well, take a look at this.

From that example, Twitter has seemingly added a new element to its branded Hashtag experience which will see the screen flooded with the respective image or visual when users tap the branded tag. It’s nothing major in any way, but it does add another element of interaction, which could end up making its ‘Hashmoji’ campaigns more attractive.

Ha-Shocking

The project was developed last year, as explained by Twitter’s Leah Culver:

“For Hack Week 2022, [we] assembled a team to build a fun feature for Twitter advertisers as an upsell to branded hashtags… and we won. Shipping this feature would only take a week of engineering work and so I was certain we would be able get it done… and yeah, that didn’t happen. We got a lot of “NO” for not very good reasons. When Elon Musk took over at Twitter, we saw our chance.”

Again, it’s not a major change, nor does it add anything significant functionally, but with branded Hashtags already helping to drive improved campaign response, it could be another key element to improving resonance, which better helps your promotions stand out in the app.

Twitter has undergone some pretty critical changes over the past month or two, so at this point, we’ll gladly take what we can get. At least for those really looking to make Twitter a bigger focus this year, this update could not have arrived at a better time, reinforcing your approach to growth.

The Wrap

Either way, it’s definitely another consideration for your Tweet promotions and tie-ins or if you wanted to build a more engaging in-app brand experience. Maybe we don’t need convoluted features like swipeable timelines or the capacity to write novel-length Tweets; Maybe, what we needed all along were simple, quirky screen effects whenever trigger words were mentioned.

Okay, maybe we were wrong in saying that it didn’t add anything. As it turns out, Twitter’s new option does add something – a little extra fun. Being the ‘Town Square’ for news and updates sounds important, but it also sounds like you’re having the most boring time ever. This small activation at least changes that picture, even by just a bit.
