Twitter’s 2022 ‘Brand Bracket’ competition is heating up! But first, what exactly is Brand Bracket? Simply put, it’s basically the rename of its annual #BestOfTweets branding competition – Twitter’s climactic event that crowns the brands with the best-performing marketing.

On that note, the first brands are preparing to move through to the next round, with the next set of playoffs now underway. In simplest terms, it’s like a Tweet-based battle tournament between brands with a strong Twitter presence.

Let The Battle Begin!

Twitter’s Brand Bracket promotion, now in its second year, ties into the hype surrounding the NCAA March Madness tournament, pitting brand Twitter handles against each other. The competition also takes into consideration the weight of public vote, calling on people to identify the best Twitter voices in the game.

As with all tournaments, the end result is crowning a winner, which in this case would be recognized as being the ultimate Twitter brand. Brand Bracket, in its entirety, could provide indicators on how you can potentially up your Tweet game by learning from those who do it best, along with including optimal examples on how to also improve audience engagement.

Last year, @Xbox came out on top, beating out @Skittles in the final round. Both are competing again this year and begin their face-off battles this week. Twitter itself seems to be heavily invested in promoting it too, treating face-offs as if they were like NBA matches.

It’s a rather interesting promotion for marketers, given that it highlights some of the most liked and revered Twitter handles. Surprisingly, even @Wendy’s sassy account is among those who are up for the award. Given how well Wendy’s account is known for its top-notch clapbacks, you’d think it’d be a strong contender, but sadly, it was knocked out in just the second round in last year’s competition. People went with @Skittles instead. The moment you ask ‘Why?’ is the value of this campaign – in highlighting other handles, it gives users more reason to check them out and see for themselves why they’re popular.

The Wrap

For marketers, the competition acts as an insight basin, allowing them to observe and analyze all kinds of approaches, take notes, and even try out a couple of things in their campaigns to learn how to maximize Tweets for their branding and promotion.

If you want to check out the list of this year’s contenders, you can find them here. Place your bets and pick out your favorite! Alternatively, you can also follow the @TwitterMktg handle to vote in the Brand Bracket polls as they pop up.
