A Tweet with a still image AND a GIF? Whoah. How about Tweets with videos? Out of this world. What would you say if you had the capacity to attach all three different content types to every single Tweet? Sounds like a good way to showcase various post elements if you ask us.

Versatili-Tweets

All this could be coming soon, based on this discovery by the Sherlock Holmes of app research, Alessandro Paluzzi. In the example that he shared, Twitter’s supposedly working on the capacity to insert various forms of media into a single Tweet.

This could open up a new range of creative opportunities and expand on Twitter’s current expressive tools. Just don’t expect this to be coming soon, especially with all of Twitter’s projects being put on hold in the wake of transfer protocols amid Elon Musk’s takeover of the company.

When asked about the test, Twitter only responded by saying that it doesn’t have anything to share about the project as of now. There isn’t even anything about acknowledging that the feature is in testing or is being tested, which, again, is understandable given that Twitter is in a state of flux right now. There are certainly a lot of uncertainties for the platform at this time, which sort of explains why it’s not overly forthcoming about its projects. Not even Twitter itself is sure as to what will happen to it at this stage. Will Elon be Twitter’s salvation? Or will him taking the reins cause Twitter’s downfall? Only time will give us an answer here.

Either way, it does look like this could be coming, which would make it a new consideration to include in your Twitter approach. For brands, the would-be option would provide them with a new way to showcase their products, utilizing promo shots coupled with video overviews all within a single Tweet. Users may also be able to find creative uses for multiple GIF reactions or even GIF reactions that react to each other – self-aware GIFs, now that would be entertaining. Other brands could also include GIF responses to their product clips as another promotional consideration.

The Wrap

It sounds like a good update, one of the more decent ones in recent times at least. While it may be technically challenging, it could also be a good way for Twitter to encourage more interaction and engagement by facilitating more creativity. Perhaps when Elon is finally seated on his new throne, he hopefully gives this front a bit more focus, seeing as how it can also contribute to ‘Free Speech’ by virtue of higher self-expression.

Right now, Twitter’s future does seem a bit cloudy, but clouds do clear up. For all news and updates that we receive about Twitter, know that we’ll only start having answers to questions the moment Twitter’s new management starts acting.
