With the pandemic having kept most of us indoors, which it still does for parts of the world, it has also served as a key reminder of health dangers. More people are now looking to engage with wellness-related topics as they look for new ways to stay fit and healthy and make a positive lifestyle change for themselves and their families.

Health Is Wealth

This trend seems to be evident on Twitter, where wellness-related topics have seen large spikes in engagement as of late, according to the latest trend reports from the app.

As per Twitter:

“Engagement within the wellness conversation is growing as people seek like-minded individuals for information and support as they improve their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. These jumps in engagement show that the wellness conversation is resonating on the timeline, so consider what you can offer to people working towards healthier habits.”

To glean more insight on this, Twitter has teamed up with AdWeek to look at key Tweet trends in health and wellbeing and how this conversation is evolving via Tweet. Some of the key findings include:

  • Wellness conversations have seen an 84% increase in impressions year-over-year.

  • Twitter users are increasingly looking to inform and encourage one another on health-related topics.

  • Men are now equally engaged with health topics across the timeline.

Check out AdWeek’s expanded report here. Meanwhile, other important insights from Twitter’s own findings are:

  • A 91% YoY increase in the use of the Hashtag #MotivateYourself.

  • 1.4 million Tweets related to health over the past year, with a 76% YoY increase for replies, and a 61% increase in ‘Likes’.

  • Men make up 49% of the conversation, sporting a 7% YoY increase.

  • An overall positive increase for men and women to live healthier and more active lifestyles, including dieting, achieving work-life balance, career options, and pursuing hobbies.

The Wrap

These are some nice insights and they speak strongly of how much of a behavioral and psychological shift the pandemic has caused people to undergo. The positive here is that people were forced to grow more inclined to go digital, relying on virtual connections and the internet to continue their daily activities. For what it’s worth, Twitter basically captured the importance of staying healthy as a major element of life. At least for health-related marketers, these figures also say something about potential opportunities on Twitter, so they’re at least worth considering.
