Twitter just announced that it’ll once again be holding its ‘Innovators’ agency awards program this 2022, celebrating the best-in-class media planning and promotions among its global ad agency partners. With a strong reliance on ad revenue as one of its largest financial contributors, Twitter must maintain good relations where and when possible if it means to weather the incoming storm that is economic turbulence, amplified further by the pending takeover by Elon Musk.

Ad Majorem

Twitter originally launched these awards back in 2019. Twitter’s Innovators Awards provide an opportunity to showcase some of the best ad campaigns on the platform, rewarding the talent involved, while also providing additional guidance for other brands on how they can approach their Tweet efforts.

This time, the awards will be allocated into these five categories:

  • Best Launch Campaign

  • Best Connect Campaign

  • Best Conversion Campaign

  • Best Social Impact Campaign

  • Innovator of the Year

Entries opened on June 20th, with agencies able to submit until the end of October. At the same time, Twitter says that it will also undertake an ‘Agency Roadshow’ in offices across the globe, including Singapore, New York City, London, and France – supposedly to ‘educate and support agency partners interested in participating’.

For your standard and run-of-the-mill advertisers, the initiative might not offer as much immediate value, but as noted, it can help provide some guidance as to how you can approach your Twitter ad efforts, with some strategies proving more viable than others. Through the examination and evaluation of the eventual winners and their campaigns, budding brands and advertisers could better position and tweak their approach to either get better results or maybe even be contenders during the next awards – if ever.

Last year, KFC, Cadbury, and Spotify were among the winners, based on specific campaigns put up for consideration.

The Wrap

These campaigns, which you can still look up in the app, by the way, could provide you with some additional tips and pointers to supplement your efforts, providing additional insight into how the top ad minds approach Twitter engagement.
