X’s new job listings have been seeing a good response. True enough, ‘hundreds of companies’ report open roles on their X profiles, merely two months after launch. Now, X looks to add more job functionality to the app, including job recommendations, and job listings sharing options. There is also a new centralized job discovery element, which is one of many other upgrades to X job ads.

X Jobs

First, X shared new concept images of job-sharing options inbound for the app. Based on those images, X will soon allow auto-populated job display listings within DMs and communities. These prompts trigger every time users share a URL from X job ads.

Direct messaging is seeing increased use over time as people move away from public posting. At the same time, sharing jobs within dedicated communities helps highlight roles to more engaged users, as per their interests. If anything, it could be one way to boost awareness and engagement with X’s job tools. Another benefit is that it helps ease more businesses into using the option.

However, there are caveats. One such caveat is the need for organizations to pay at least $1000 a month for listing access. In addition, X mentioned that it will soon roll out job recommendations to users based on their relevant activity. This week, X provided this policy update:

“We may collect and use your personal information (such as your employment history, educational history, employment preferences, skills and abilities, job search activity and engagement, and so on) to recommend potential jobs for you, to share with potential employers when you apply for a job, to enable employers to find potential candidates, and to show you more relevant advertising.”

Lastly, X looks to add a centralized listing of advertised jobs in the app, along with new job search functionality. That makes X similar to LinkedIn with its job listings, with some reservations from Elon Musk. Job listings on X make a lot of sense, considering how many people build professional connections on it. This update reinforces X’s viability for those looking to build their brand.

The Wrap

Many businesses claim to have hired people via X engagement, logically making this a beneficial element for many users. As Musk looks to build upon his ‘everything app’, this is another consideration, which could grow over time. Either way, this is a good update that helps boost X’s value as a business tool. It may not be the new LinkedIn, but it could give it a run for its money. Better X job ads are coming, and people seem to like them.
