TikTok has published a new report into key user trends and shifts to better help marketers tap into the most relevant conversations, maximizing their performance in the app. The new report marks TikTok’s second edition of its ‘What’s Next’ culture driver report, which this time is a 35-page overview of rising user interests, as well as several case studies, brand trends, and other keynotes that might prove useful for your marketing strategies.

TikTok Trends V2

Before we head into a little more detail regarding the report’s content, you can download the full guide here; use it to improve context and understanding of current and future TikTok trends. As noted, the main focus of the report is on trending conversations, including an overview of each, with notes on conversation growth, related Hashtags, and more.

As stated earlier, there are also case study examples included for each trend, along with general brand notes and specific pointers about certain types of posts that perform well among interested users.

The report highlight five key trends, which are:

  1. Self-care Champions – Pretty self-explanatory. These are influencers or brands that emphasize caring for oneself. The content surrounding this trend is often uplifting and has practical, healthy messages.
  2. Power of Co-Creation – Again, TikTok is big on collaborations, further highlighting the benefits of partnerships and tie-ins.
  3. Financial Services – Surprisingly enough, whether in the form of practical advice or through education, TikTok makes for an effective learning environment.
  4. Recipe and Food Videos – Food hacks.
  5. Gaming Culture – Gaming has evolved beyond merely ‘playing’ games. TikTok provides another example of how gaming can be used as a facilitator of connection.

If you’re working in any sector related to these, then the guide is well worth downloading. The additional insight provided might prove useful in leveraging your particular industry’s prominent TikTok trends. On top of these topic-specific breakdowns, TikTok also provided additional insights into the #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt trend, along with the app’s evolution. There are also a couple of tips and notes about working with creators on campaigns, which is also a key area that TikTok looks to develop, serving as one way to help retain its top talent.

The Wrap

There are certainly a handful of valuable notes here. If you’re considering TikTok to be part of your total, broader approach, then this report (and by virtue of all of its previously published works) will prove more than useful. Having an understanding of current and emerging trends gives you a slight advantage over the competition as it’ll allow your business to be more flexible and your marketing to be more targeted.
