A FREE API update? Unreal! TikTok is looking to make it easier to post directly to the app via third-party platforms. TikTok adds more direct publishing options to its API through its new “Direct Post” element. Direct Post enables creation tools to build in TikTok posting as a publishing option.

As per TikTok:

“Direct Post allows our community to post video content directly from third-party platforms to TikTok, with photo content coming soon. Creators can also schedule long-form video content using Direct Post through social media management platforms.”

Directly Speaking…

So, soon, you and other users will see a broader range of TikTok scheduling options added to more third-party apps. Meanwhile, several video editing tools also gain TikTok as a direct sharing option. To simplify, TikTok adds more direct publishing options to its API to streamline its posting and content management process.

“To use Direct Post, creators need to connect their TikTok account to the third-party platform. From there, partners are vetted through an audit process before granting them access to Content Posting API. Once these steps are taken, the third-party platform has permission to post on their TikTok account whenever the creators try to export media to TikTok.”

Initial launch partners include Adobe Express and Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, SocialPilot, and Twitch. CapCut, being TikTok-owned, is essentially on the list by default. However, the addition of Twitch’s Clip Editor is interesting as it will better enable game streamers to cross-post their content.

It’s an opportune update that can greatly aid Social Media managers in both content creation and posting. In turn, that should also make it easier for you to manage your TikTok content within your workflow. However, re-posting less polished content on TikTok is another discussion for another time. Many of TikTok’s best-performing posts come from mobile. That gives posts a more genuine and human feel, versus polished and professional-looking brand promotions.

The Wrap

More creative effects will always stand out. So, by using a combination of both elements, you can likely create more effective, resonant TikTok clips. Either way, it is beneficial that TikTok adds more direct publishing options to its API. Against the competition, TikTok has always proven to be more “open” and flexible, making it a more appealing choice. With several platforms pay-walling their APIs, broader API access could give TikTok the advertising and marketing edge.
