TikTok is just 2 years old, right? Well, wrong. TikTok, which might surprise you, is actually around 6 years old already. The reason we said that is because TikTok just released its 5th annual ‘Year on TikTok’ report, providing us all with an overview of all the creators, moments, and trends that got the most eyeballs over the last 12 months. 

As TikTok explains: 

“In 2022, we lived, we laughed, and we collectively agreed on our love of corn. Our global community entertained and inspired each other, elevating and celebrating self-expression by discovering, creating, and sharing content that captured our imaginations.”

TikTok Top Performers

It’s been quite a ride for TikTok this year, expanding its penchant for short clips to cover other, more obscure fields, such as automotive sales and even Real Estate. Basically, with all the versatility now circulating in its channel, there’s a lot of content that now performs pretty well. TikTok’ Year in Review is separated into nine categories: 

  • FYFaves – The most popular video clips of the year overall.

  • TikTok Taught Me – Which highlights educational lessons, life hacks, and how-to’s people have learned from the TikTok community.

  • The Playlist – The most popular songs on the app in 2022.

  • Only on TikTok – Key TikTok trends, powered by creative effects, sounds, and other product features.

  • Breakthrough Stars – The rising creators and celebrities who had big moments on TikTok this year.

  • The Hitmakers – The most popular artists in the app.

  • Uncovered Communities – A celebration of subcultures and niche communities that are thriving on TikTok.

  • Eats on Repeat – Key food and recipe trends.

  • Loved by TikTok – Some of the most popular products and SMBs presented in the app.

There are, of course, other segments that highlight the top-performing clips and creators, along with the most prominent trends that happened throughout the year, which gives testimony to just how influential and wide-reaching TikTok has become.
