TikTok recently held its third annual ‘TikTok World’ event, where it shared new insights into its latest product developments, ad tools, and creator options, along with strategy tips and pointers to help businesses grow their TikTok presence. Even if you didn’t catch the live event, you can still get up-to-date on all of the announcements, with the app also launching a new ‘TikTok World Hub’ mini-site, which provides a central space for all the featured elements.

Global Hub

TikTok is still in the process of launching this new hub, so there isn’t too much to discuss just yet. So, let’s quickly go over what elements are present, as well as other notable features. First, the TikTok World Hub includes video presentations from the event, covering the latest creator tools and options, including eCommerce elements, evolving ad tools, and more.

Also included is a range of links for guides that can help improve your TikTok marketing approach. There are ‘sub-threads’, if you would, such as creative content guide resources, creating and editing videos with CapCut, getting expert help, and more! Within this, TikTok has also published two new guides – ‘Creative Codes’, an overview of the key principles that drive standout in-app creatives. The second guide is a 4-page explainer of TikTok’s creative principles.

The ‘Creative Code’ guide is the better of the two, highlighting a range of key approaches and principles to help maximize your TikTok content efforts. It even has an explainer portion about how you can create effective ‘Hooks’. The first few seconds of a clip can make or break the whole video. On that note, TikTok lists three different hook types:

  • Suspense Adds suspense during the early stages of a clip. It can lead to a 16% increase in watch time.

  • Surprise – Surprise.

  • Emotion – Leading with powerful emotions can lead to a 1.7x lift in awareness.

The Wrap

There weren’t any major updates announced as part of the TikTok World event, per se, but TikTok has provided some valuable insights into what works best in the app, and what it’s working on as it continues to develop its ad tools. If you’re marketing on TikTok, which you should be if you aren’t yet, then it’d be worth tuning in and reading through the various sections of this guide to ensure that you’re maximizing your potential in the app.
