Despite a somewhat grim-looking Q3 report, Pinterest is very happy with its annual predictions reports.

Last year, Pinterest noted that its trend predictions for 2020 were 80% correct, which is a claim that it repeats with its latest Pinterest Predictions Report. The report basically provides an overview of where things are headed for them in 2022, based on both Pin activity, as well as a range of business categories.

Magic 8-Ball

This time, Pinterest highlights 35 trends which it says are not trending yet, but will be in the near future (last year, trend predictions were only up to 30). Some of these trends include timeless classics ranging from make-up, to fashion, to home decor, along with other elements that don’t exactly scream ‘Pinterest’.

If you go on over to the actual predictions report, you’ll see that Pinterest provides a summary overview for each trend, along with related searches that it sees will reinforce its predictions. Pinterest has also included more visual representations of these trends on its dedicated Pinterest Predicts Mini-Site, including Pin samples in each category.

To add to its overall trends report this year, Pinterest is also providing more personalized trend prediction insights, based on respective Pin activity and its trend notes. No report would be complete without insights after all, and luckily for you, this latest set helps highlight the upcoming shifts that are most likely to be relevant to you, helping manage your own Pinterest approach in the coming future.

Pinterest goes on to state:

Our first-ever in-app experience is a set of personalized Idea Pins that will take Pinners on a journey through ideas they’ve loved, trends they might have been first to try and show their most inspired month in 2021, to our predictive suggestions of things they should try in 2022. Besides the general broader trends often focused on performance forecasts, this new Pinterest trends experience also factors in personal usage insights, hence the more ‘personalized’ touch that also considers or at least aligns with your interests.

There’s definitely a truckload of useful information and data to be had here. Despite being one of the ‘smaller’ platforms, Pinterest does hold significant sway over travel planning and influencing purchase decisions. If you’re considering marketing on Pinterest in 2022, then make good use of the insights it has provided when crafting your strategies. As far as predictions are concerned, especially economic ones, Pinterest’s 80% accuracy is enough of a solid track record to prove otherwise.
