It seems that Meta won’t allow us to just head into the holidays without introducing one final batch of updates. Hooray! Thanks, Mark! Meta has announced a new set of creator monetization tools and incentives that focus specifically on its Stars donation process. At the same time, Meta’s also working on improving its payout systems to get money to creators faster, which should improve their connection with its various apps. There are several of these, so best buckle up and take note.

Happier Holidays

To start, Meta’s looking to encourage more Stars use over the holiday break, introducing a range of new incentives and program offers. From now until year’s-end, Meta will be offering limited-time, holiday-themed virtual gifts to make Stars donations even more enticing. At the same time, it has also added new Stars Party bonus incentives for creators, helping them generate even more revenue via Stars promotions.

Through the Stars Party bonus program, creators will receive extra Stars from Meta if they reach certain thresholds (10k Stars), which should help entice both creators and their respective audiences to push towards higher goals. For context, 10k Stars are currently just a tad bit over $150, depending on the package you buy. This will likely change as Facebook has already pegged that Stars prices will be dropping over the next few weeks.

Of course, Meta would still prefer that you visit the Stars store when purchasing as that will help avoid Apple’s 30% in-app purchase tax. Either way, you’ll soon get to choose from cheaper Stars options, with Meta hoping to use the extra engagement over the holidays to boost awareness about its donation tools.

Meta’s also looking to make it easier for creators to acknowledge those who send Stars through the use of a new filter within the Comments Manager, which displays all comments that were sent with Stars. Creators will also be able to reply to multiple Stars comments at once – take this with a grain of salt, but it does offer a way to at least recognize each contributor, improving community connection.

Meta’s also rolling out themed virtual gifts to Facebook Reels, starting with popular Reels topics, including pets, cars, fashion, and dance. Meta’s also looking to encourage more Stars use in Reels by giving more Reels users free Stars to send to eligible creators.

What else? Meta’s also automatically enabling Stars on public creator content, including within Facebook Reels. This should help raise awareness of the option, possibly getting more people earning from their content within its apps. On a slightly adjacent angle, Meta also continues to test Overlay and Post Loop ads in Reels, with the end goal ultimately being to expand Reels monetization.

On another front, Meta’s also looking to refine its payments process, getting creators paid sooner by lowering the threshold for US-based creators to get paid $100 to $25.

The Wrap

It’s quite a number of Stars-focused updates on the way, so there’s definitely something to look forward to. Oh, Meta also added a new Subscribe button on Facebook watch, mainly for sign-up purposes. Meta’s also diving more into providing Live support, which is quite surprising. It all makes sense because Meta knows that it’ll need creators to help push its vision of the next stage of digital connection – something that better creator monetization and incentive schemes will definitely help. If Meta can build stronger, more meaningful connections with creators and have them rely more on its platforms, then that’ll put it in a good position to further chase after its Metaverse dream.
