Despite the controversy, LinkedIn is not allowing itself to be late to the AI party. With all competitors upping their AI game, LinkedIn is catching up by testing a new Microsoft Designer AI integration. This new integration would provide LinkedIn users with advanced image creation and visual editing capacity directly in-stream. X user @LindseyGamble_ shows an example of how the feature likely appears and operates.

LinkedIn’s new integration would provide generative AI tools within your post-creation flow, allowing users to create text-prompt-based visual elements. Moreover, users can also access and use templates, GIFs, and create videos without having to leave the app.

LinkedIn’s parent company Microsoft launched Designer last year.  Microsoft’s Designer AI focuses on providing users with high-quality visuals based on text prompts. In this official trailer, you can see how Designer aims at building visual content for social posts. That makes Designer a perfect LinkedIn complement. Having Designer built directly into your LinkedIn process could be a huge update for your in-app marketing.

Microsoft is riding the AI wave hard, being among the first mega-companies to integrate AI in its various channels. As ChatGPT grew in popularity, Microsoft was lining up integrations to enhance its Bing experience. At the same time, Microsoft integrated the AI image-generator DALL.E into both Microsoft Edge and its Bing search engine. LinkedIn is the latest Microsoft child to receive the AI boosting treatment.

LinkedIn has been doing well since 2020, with the pandemic helping it develop its offers on multiple fronts. With all of the behavioral shifts and trends in the last 2 years, LinkedIn is currently in an advantageous position. The forced digital boom is causing waves of change to transform the current work landscape; more people want hybrid work models or a 100% work-from-home setup. As a result, all of these changes enhance the potential and appeal of AI.

The Wrap

LinkedIn currently tests its new Microsoft Designer AI integration with select users. Those lucky enough to be included will see a new icon at the bottom of their composer window. Tapping on the new button takes users into the Designer experience, allowing users to try out new visual options. Microsoft’s AI integrations have done well so far, and its new Designer will no doubt have the same performance.
