LinkedIn wants to provide more insight into content performance by adding new post analytics tools that show users details about members that read their LinkedIn updates, as well as providing a count on how many reactions each of their posts have received.

LinkedIn chief product officer Tomer Cohen explains:

“We know it’s important to understand what content is resonating with your audience and our team has been hard at work building new analytics for our creators. Soon, creators will be able to get analytics on their individual posts and overall performance, across content & audience.”

LinkedIn-LinkedOut

The new analytics provide more specific insights into who exactly reads your posts, offering filters based on job title, industry, location, and other demographic data. This could be a more efficient way of ensuring that your content resonates more with those that you intend to reach. Furthermore, if you’ve already gone through the trouble of defining your marketing and advertising personas, then these new analytic tools simplify the process of cross-checking your audience, allowing for timely refinements based on available data.

Cohen shared the preview as part of a broader update of LinkedIn’s work on updating its platform features. To add, Cohen also outlined LinkedIn’s development of new tech trends, including potential integration of NFTs:

“When we think of any new technology, we start with the needs of our members and customers and how we can best connect them to economic opportunity. Then, we look at how we can best leverage innovative technologies to help meet those needs. The topics of Crypto, NFT, blockchain, and metaverse are all discussed frequently at LinkedIn as we continue to look for better ways to enhance your experience.”

While there’s not much on this front yet, Cohen did share one interesting note – a new ‘Reaction’ emoji is on its way.

“One of the top requests we got was for a laughing emoji reaction. We hear you loud & clear and we agree. Humor is indeed a serious business.”

This is as close to an official confirmation as we can get, at least for now. For a little added context, this is LinkedIn’s current emoji set. LinkedIn added reaction ‘Support’ in June 2020 in response to the massive surge of pandemic-related posts, building on the original five reaction options.

The Wrap

Users should expect a new ‘Laugh’ reaction, either adding to the current lineup or replacing one of the existing options. Either way, post analytics remains to be the most significant update, especially now with LinkedIn seeing record-breaking numbers. Given the tendency for all activity to rise during this post-COVID period, additional information like this couple prove invaluable in maximizing your platform strategy.
