LinkedIn recently added the option to forward a LinkedIn Feed post to multiple members at once. Meanwhile, users will now also be able to create a new group message whenever they forward a post. In the new sequence, you can select multiple recipients when sharing a LinkedIn post, with the capacity to either forward the post to each member separately or create a new group chat with selected users. You can also add a personal note to your message, representing your take or opinion.

The Messenger Shares

If anything, it could be a good way to spark more in-depth discussions in the app, thus encouraging engagement. Likewise, you can also use this new option to introduce connections to each other over shared interests, potentially bridging any previous gaps, and opening new doors to collaboration and partnerships.

With more Social Media interactions switching to DMs and private messaging, every platform is now working to optimize DM sharing and provide additional ways to lean into more private engagement behavior. Versus other platforms, LinkedIn has somewhat of a lead when it comes to more private interactions in general, which shouldn’t be much of a surprise given how LinkedIn snagged for itself the title of being the largest professional network in the world.

LinkedIn also recently added new DM tagging options to help categorize your messages. Along with its ‘Focused Inbox’ approach, which separates your inbox messages into ‘Featured’ and ‘Other’ folders, both can help streamline engagement. To top this off, LinkedIn also reported that conversations in the app are up nearly 20% YoY, which is why it’s now looking to improve its DM options, thus facilitating more of these kinds of conversations.

The Wrap

Again, the broader usage shift has seen more people shy away from public posting – away from all the angst and drama that often comes with it. Instead, more and more people are starting to prefer private messaging, which LinkedIn is looking to better facilitate with this update.

While we can’t say exactly how this option will differ from other similar messaging options, what we can infer is that it’ll likely perform, on average, better than its closest competitors. LinkedIn is also known as a thought leadership space – something that would reflect in its various integrations and projects. Either way, it’s an interesting update and, so far, looks like the most comprehensive messaging update on any platform, which should appear as a big bonus for businesses and brands that are aiming to tap into the potential of private messaging.
