It’s good news for LinkedIn enthusiasts because ‘Creator Mode’ is getting a much-deserved boost. LinkedIn Live Access is being added to those who have Creator Mode enabled, as well as a new newsletter option that helps creators stay in touch with their audience.

‘Creator Mode’ Activated

Starting off with LinkedIn Live, the new feature was once only available to Members and Pages that have more than 150 followers or connections who, in turn, must have been able to meet certain criteria. Now, LinkedIn has opened up the option to creators, greatly augmenting the ability to maximize audience engagement on the platform.

Those who have Creator Mode turned on will now be able to broadcast live to their followers in the app, which is seen as a powerful way to maximize both community engagement and platform presence, seeing as how LinkedIn users have been found to be 20x more likely to share video content on the platform over any other type of post. Moreover, with the general consumption of video and live-engagement on the rise, granting more users access to the option is a strategic move to capitalize on rising trends.

LinkedIn themselves state that Live videos, on average, see 7x more reactions and up to 24x more comments as compared to native or pre-recorded videos produced by the same broadcaster/s on the platform. In short, that’s a whole lot of engagement. Now imagine just how much more engagement can be generated knowing that LinkedIn Live is being made available to more user and profile types.

Next, Creator Mode newsletters will also be made available, providing creators an easier way to maintain connection with their audiences and markets.

LinkedIn explains:

“Whenever you publish a new article in your newsletter, your subscribers are automatically notified via push, in-app, and email notifications so they stay up to date with your latest content.”

It’s good incentivization for creators and brands to maintain regular contact with their audience, boosting their presence and thought leadership in the process. So far, the only real bottleneck to this addition is that it is gated behind Creator Mode, so having Creator Mode turned off also toggles off the newsletter option. Creator mode itself, officially introduced last March of 2020, is still in the process of being fully rolled out.

Lastly, LinkedIn is also improving LinkedIn creator discovery, which, as suggested, will boost the discovery process and experience, thus generally improving the on-platform presence of highly relevant creators.

The Wrap

In line with all other major social platforms, LinkedIn is prioritizing retention of its top talents. Building more tools to incentivize and aid your top creators gives them more reason to stay and more ability to keep producing highly relevant, quality content, which plays out well for the platform overall in the long-run.

LinkedIn has supposedly also launched a $25 million Creator Accelerator Program to further incentivize creators and/or thought leaders to continue building their presence on LinkedIn. Meanwhile, creator mode tools continue to evolve, thus providing more opportunities all-in-all. They may not be flashy updates, but when you’re LinkedIn, you don’t need to be; as the leading business connection platform, more practicality equates to more profit.
