Even as Christmas draws near, Instagram is not done with dishing out new updates. Squeezing every ounce of growth it can, Instagram showcases new “Add Yours” templates. These new visual options should provide users with another way to generate engagement based on specific parameters.

Instagram showcases new “Add Yours” templates, as per the popularity of remixing on the platform. Based on official examples, users can now create reusable versions of their Stories, allowing for the creation of custom quizzes, prompts, etc.
According to Instagram:
“People will be able to develop and share their own custom, meme-able Add Yours templates by pinning GIFs, text, and gallery images to a Story template. Add Yours story templates gives people more ways to express their creativity in Stories and share what’s on their mind with their followers.”
To create an “Add Yours” template, you have to first add any GIF, text, or image to your chosen Story. Next, select “Add Yours Templates” from the sticker tray, then choose the elements to pin as part of your template. Instagram also has stock templates that you can choose from and use. Users can use these premade templates either as a base or as inspiration. You can randomize Instagram templates by pressing the dice icon at the bottom of the composer screen.
After creating your template, you can post it to your Story, with that Story then displaying an “Add Yours” prompt. As the name suggests, the “Add Yours” format invites users to share their take on your Story. Online collaboration has steeply risen over the last few years, making “participation” a key element in digital marketing. “Add Yours” is Instagram’s attempt to replicate the original success of TikTok’s “Duet” functionality.

Giving over a billion users the opportunity to create custom templates could see completely new prompts and engagement options emerge. At the very least, it is an interesting concept.
