Whether you like it or not, so long as you take your business ventures online, you’ll have to cross paths with SEO. If you’ve not yet considered SEO as a part of your attack plan for 2022, then you should. A team from Oberlo decided to share some key insights into Google search usage, hoping to help more users understand the impact of SEO through an infographic.

Count Em’ Well

This listing looks at overall usage trends, popular searches, Google’s value with regards to referral traffic, and more. On that note, the infographic is a simple visual presentation of 10 distinct facts, which we’ll try to slightly expound on to add further context and better help you consider SEO for your overall marketing approach.

#1 Google was visited 89.3 billion times last month. A quick showcase of why Google is the most visited website in the world, even if TikTok is crowned the ‘Most Popular’.

#2 Google has a 91.9% market share as of January 2022, making it the clear top-dog in the Search Engine market. Basically, if you’ve not even thought about Google as being a key part of your strategies, then you best think again.

#3 Google processes an average of 8.5 billion searches a day, which is the equivalent of every person on Earth doing at least 1.03 searches daily. Yes, that would entail an imaginary scenario where each person has an internet connection and an adequate device to access the web.

#4 Over a billion questions have already been asked on Google Lens. The real surprise here is knowing that there are Google Lens, right? Google Lens was launched back in 2017, amassing around a billion queries over the last five years.

#5 63% of Google’s US organic search traffic originated from mobile devices. Roughly, that’s more than half of the entire US organic searches done on the go, which, for the record, is the new preferred method of accessing the internet, with 92.6% (4.32 billion) of all internet users accessing the net on mobile.

#6 Facebook is the most searched keyword on Google. Not too much of a surprise. Pull up Google Search and just type in “F” – what’s the very first result that appears?

#7 Google showcases around 84% use frequency, with respondents using Google three or more times a day.

#8 46% of product searches begin on Google. If we’re talking about total search counts, then this is a very big slice of that pie. Nearly half of all product searches are done on Google, meaning that reach and discovery are huge on Search.

#9 90% of survey respondents said that they were likely to click on the front set of search results. SERP top rankings are important, which you only learn more about by learning more about SEO in general.

#10 Google produces an organic search of about 23% of all site visits. That’s a hefty amount if you consider that Google has nearly 5.6 billion daily visits.

The Wrap

The bottom line here is that Google is well-positioned to be included in anyone’s strategy. Even if you’re not personally a fan of the company, there’s no denying its reach and evident market dominance. For the most part, Google scores high in the major numbers, going above the high 50’s to low 90’s, depending on the category. Very few platforms are capable of such feats, at least not within the same time it took Google to reach its current level.

It’s a very concise and useful overview for those who already know how to play around with SEO, serving as an equally important knowledge nugget to those who are not fully aware of the dynamics and impact of SEO on online marketing and advertising performance. Luckily for all of us, there are still roughly 11 and a half months left in the year to try these out!
