LinkedIn just announced a couple of new additions to its ‘Creator Mode’, which provides more ways for users to build their presence on the app. Adding to its existing Creator Mode elements, including LinkedIn LIVE and access to its newsletter, LinkedIn will also be adding audio events, ON-profile URL link display, and more ways to build your following on the platform.

Master of The Elements

Let’s start with audio events – initially launched in beta back in January, LinkedIn is now giving all Creator Mode users access to its audio rooms option. LinkedIn audio events are much like Twitter Spaces or Clubhouse, granting it the ability to host various themed discussions. Originally available to only a select few, LinkedIn is now making the option more broadly available, which makes sense seeing as how it fits in well on LinkedIn more than anywhere else.

With the capacity to facilitate professional connection within the industry and moving in line with the broader Work From Home (WFH) shift, LinkedIn’s audio sessions could be a valuable addition. If your favorite LinkedIn creators start regularly streaming, it could be well worth tuning in to get the latest scoop on what’s going on in your particular field.

LinkedIn’s also adding a new Creator Mode option to allow participants to add a link on top of their LinkedIn profile so that audiences can learn more about them and their brand. At the same time, LinkedIn also looks to help creators further fill out their audience, both on and off the platform, with a new way to share a quick link to your LinkedIn profile that can be embedded on websites and blogs.

LinkedIn’s also adding new follow buttons in the main feed and search results to help connect users with relevant voices directly, while searches on a specific company or topic will now also include recommendations for people to follow who regularly talk about those topics.

Lastly, LinkedIn will now automatically add a user as a follower if they send a connection request to a user who has Creator Mode enabled. While it may appear ‘forced’ in some way, the base concept is that if a user shows a clear and definite interest towards a certain creator by sending them a connection request, then that likely means that they’re also interested in what said creator has to say. This could be a boon for creators looking to grow their following. One major issue here would be that regular users might end up following people unwittingly, cluttering their feed as a result. Growth hackers will also tend to further exploit Creator Mode in the hopes of drastically inflating their numbers.

The Wrap

Overall, these are some interesting add-ons that provide new capacity for LinkedIn creators to build their presence in the app. The main benefit of building a presence on LinkedIn is that it can help you become a thought leader in your sector, granting you significant benefits from a professional perspective. In short, get famous on LinkedIn to easily open more doors and boost your career prospects.
