Since it is the season of giving, how about we give all of you another early Christmas gift? If that sounds good, then this will sound better: there is a way you can train ChatGPT to have a more unique tone of voice. Want to incorporate more AI into your branding? If so, then check out this guide by The Creative Marketer on how to train ChatGPT to write in your brand’s tone.

Watch Your Tone

Similar to story character archetypes (i.e. the “Hero,” “Villain,” etc.), there are also different voice tones. To stand out, your brand tone has to have a specific flare to it. On that note, TCM shared an infographic that teaches you how to train ChatGPT to write in your brand’s tone. The infographic breaks tones down into the following categories:

  • Innocent

  • Sage

  • Explorer

  • Ruler

  • Creator

  • Caregiver

  • Lover

  • Hero

  • Everyman

  • Magician

  • Jester

  • Outlaw

TCM breaks down each tone in detail in their infographic, which you can check out here. Before, assigning and coming up with character personas required you to have some literary knowledge. Now, with AI, the initial entry barrier when it comes to brand characterization is easier to overcome.

TCM’s infographic suggests using literal characters as prompts to help define your brand tone. For example, if your brand is all about building empowerment and positivity, then characters like Spongebob and Winnie The Pooh are good examples. While the overview does not tell you how to write from the perspective of these characters, do not fret. All you need to do is input the correct prompts and ChatGPT’s learning algorithms will do the rest.

The Wrap

While ChatGPT will do the bulk of the work, it is still up to you to exercise due diligence. Do your homework. While ChatGPT will be your frontman, you and your team are the ones who need to feed it with the necessary info. Besides using ChatGPT to write content, you should also learn how to train ChatGPT to write in your brand’s tone. Check out the DoS version of TCM’s infographic for more guidance.
