Have you already considered what your marketing plan for next year is going to look like? Since the social landscape is ever-changing, your content strategy, which should already be innately adaptive, must also change with it, making planning a continuous effort of refinement to ensure that you’re always making use of the latest updates and best practices. Of course, it’s not always easy to identify the key trends and shifts that’ll govern the year’s flow; as such, what exactly are the key steps to take?

Forward-Looking

To help find the answer/s, a team from Design by Soap has shared their content marketing guide through a helpful infographic. While 2023 has yet to reveal itself, Design by Soap was able to identify six key areas to focus your planning on. They are:

  • Research

  • Ideas

  • Placement

  • Creation

  • Publishing

  • Promotion

Because the New Year hasn’t actually happened yet, the infographic, as well as the tips themselves, is rather simplistic and easy to read. It serves more as a reminder than an actual guide, playing on notions and techniques that are and have been at play for a while.

Each ‘Field’ has four (4) tips or steps to follow to ensure that you’re maximizing your efforts. While it doesn’t explicitly say to choose two or three of these fields, it’s kind of implied to try and cover each as you map out your strategy. There’s also no chronology specified, so what you do first is up to you, but we recommend always starting with either idea generation or research. Insights have always played an important role when it comes to planning, so those that manage to get the most insights are often the winners.

Likewise, 2023 seems to be placing even more emphasis on content creation, customer service, and partnerships, so identifying the key platforms to target will also help shape your overall strategy. Depending on your content pillars and ultimate objectives, you might need to implore an extra step or two to squeeze out as much result as you can.

The Wrap

Again, Design by Soap’s infographic and ‘guide’ is pretty straightforward – there’s not much novelty mentioned, but the practices and concepts involved are already pretty stable and normal in today’s market, laying a good foundation for next year’s endeavors. At most, you simply have to reinvent the wheel and insert whatever trends emerge and blow up in 2023. Remember, the real results stem from the uniqueness of your approach, regardless if you followed what everyone else is doing.
