You have to give it up for TikTok for fighting on two fronts at once – the political and on Social Media. On the Social Media side of things, TikTok has added another useful research tool for marketers, in the form of a new ‘Keyword Insights’ element within its Creative Center. This new element allows users to find more information about which keywords and phrases best resonate in TikTok ads.

As per TikTok:

“Sometimes the biggest obstacle to making meaningful creative is finding the right words to use. Our new Keyword Insights tool helps you discover the top keywords that resonate with your audience and industry. Browse keywords that have appeared in real, successful ad campaigns. Then watch the ads themselves for ideas about how to incorporate those keywords into your script, ad text, and overlays.”

As seen in an official screenshot (courtesy of said new element), you can now search through a listing of the most commonly used terms within TikTok ads, as well as see how often these words have been used, along with the (average) CTR of the respective ads, and many more.

Tapping on the ‘Details’ element to the right of each example will allow you to glean more insight into exactly how each term has been used in each ad, including whether or not it’s more commonly used as text or as a voice-over in clips. Simply put, it’s like a hyper-personalized Windows search function (ctrl + f) for TikToks; nothing new, but definitely nifty.

Also included are examples of specific videos that include those terms, providing full context into how other brands have found success with their copy. Ever since keywords became a thing, they’ve been great resource materials, providing people with more direct insight so that they learn more about what currently works and what doesn’t, along with what’s not on the app, and how you can hook into key trends as they emerge. It helps that you can also filter these listings by the last 7, 30, or 120 days, which does sound like it’s spread a little too sparsely but provides you with a good research base to help optimize your TikTok outreach approach.
