Thinking of hosting an event? Personally, I can’t wait to get back into more in-person events. That said, online events still won’t be dying down anytime soon. As such, LinkedIn could be a valuable supplementary channel for both the promotion and hosting of your events, with LinkedIn’s live events options significantly gaining traction during the pandemic.

Picture-Perfect Events

True enough, LinkedIn says that the creation of live events has seen a 150% YoY increase, with virtual meet-ups like these now being a more accessible and viable option. There might be new avenues that you’d never even considered for your efforts before.

This is the focus of LinkedIn’s newest guide – to look at how to run an effective event, including a heap of helpful pointers on how to choose the right format for your function and how to promote it to the right audience. You can check out and download LinkedIn’s 44-page guide here, but you all know how we do things over here. Shall we get into it then?

As suggested by the title, the guide mainly focuses on LinkedIn’s new ‘Event Framework’, which is an overarching planning strategy for your event. The guide looks at the crucial timings of your event, noting what you should do before, during, and after. Each element is further explored in the guide, which is essentially half-dedicated to virtual events, with the other half for real-life meet-ups.

LinkedIn also provides tips on how you can decide which is best – virtual, hybrid, or real-life events. Each event type has its strengths and weaknesses, as well as what indicators to look out for to determine which type would be best to run, based on your current goals. There is also a range of planning points and notes, including an overview of how to structure your event.

There are also specific pointers on how you can maximize your event marketing approach, along with insights into what LinkedIn users want to see from them. So, if you’re thinking of running an event, then LinkedIn’s new guide is well worth a look. There is a heap of valuable notes here that can help you refine your approach, regardless of your level of confidence.

The Wrap

Indeed, many businesses are now considering their event options. Again, with the accessibility of virtual events, which can piggyback on LinkedIn’s reach, many more businesses are starting to contemplate the potential, while ⅔ of event marketers surveyed by LinkedIn have indicated that they plan to continue running virtual events in the long term.

It’s a new dawn and era for events, with more options now at your disposal than ever before. Maybe, just maybe, the brand-building and the connective value of such could help provide your business with a much-welcomed boost.
