We have good news for Twitter Blue subscribers – Twitter’s expanding the Tweet Editing window! With that being said, Twitter’s quietly expanding its Tweet Edit window from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Give Me An Hour

As seen in an example shared by Social Media expert Matt Navarra, select Twitter Blue subscribers now have an hour to edit their Tweets. That’s double the original window Twitter offered when it first launched Tweet Editing last October. Taking that into consideration, eligible users will now have more time to catch errors and consider their message. Either that, or it’ll allow them to better respond to feedback from those who read their Tweets.

Honestly speaking, it could prove to be very useful, however, it’s still only available to Twitter Blue subscribers. To note, Twitter Blue subs make up less than 0.3% of Twitter’s total user base. Couple this with the fact that some Blue features are still being rolled out, and you can see why a lot is left to be desired.

As stated in the example above, it states that the character limit for Blue subscribers is 4,000 per Tweet. Likewise, Twitter actually expanded this to 10,000 back in April. It seems that not all users can enjoy this expansion just yet. It’s either that or the wording just hasn’t been updated yet. If the latter is the case, then that could be reflective of Twitter’s rapidly evolving system updates. As noted, updates can come with certain tradeoffs, which, in Twitter’s case, has recently occasionally led to some ‘inconsistencies’.

Most Twitter users won’t find this as a major concern, which is understandable as a consequence of moving faster. This is especially interesting when you consider that the company’s also working with 80% fewer staff. However, this operational scale-down does lead to some variances in user experience and feature availability.

To sum it up – if you’re a Twitter Blue subscriber, you may now have up to an hour to edit your Tweets. If you don’t yet, you will likely soon. Could that help Twitter Blue take-up? We would assume not, given how Tweet editing now seems like a minor element within the broader offer. Maybe, with more time to tailor your Tweets, that could be more alluring for people to consider Twitter’s $8 monthly subscription.

The Wrap

Unless you’re among Elon Musk’s top fans, this does sound like a very niche offer. At the same time, the retirement of Twitter’s Legacy Blue ticks has done very little to increase Blue take-up. Perhaps by forcing all advertisers to sign-up, that could change, but that’s still quite a long-shot. It does seem like Twitter’s Blue ticks didn’t hold as much value as Musk and Co. initially thought.
