Snapchat just announced a new integration with eBay! This new integration would enable users to share eBay listings within Snaps. Here’s the current sequence – now, when someone views an item in the eBay app, they’ll then be able to share the product directly from their Snaps or Snap Stories, with the listing showing up as a sticker that you can overlay on your post.

As Snap explains:

“More than 142M buyers shop on eBay globally to find everything from the latest sneaker drops to rare, vintage handbags, and now, Snapchatters have a seamless way to share what they’ve been eyeing, or even what they are selling, right where conversations with real friends are already happening.”

Snap Bids

The latter couldn’t be more valuable, with eBay sellers now able to effectively promote their latest listings to their connection on Snap. In a way, it’s almost like free advertising, though restricted only to your connections.

It’s another step towards expanded eCommerce for Snap, which is highly opportune since it’s also looking to improve on this element. To note, Snap is also integrating an expanding range of AR shopping tools, shoppable Bitmoji digital itemsenhanced product listings, and more.

Snapchat also displays Amazon product listings via the Snap Camera, which could also be integrated with its eBay listing at a later stage, providing users with more ways to discover unique items within the app.

Each small step helps build more habitual shopping behaviors in the app. With the majority of Snapchatters often seeking their friends’ opinions before purchasing anything, it could prove to be a highly valuable and logical expansion of its shopping push.

The Wrap

It’s one of those updates that are small but pack quite the punch. Collaborations are rather common nowadays among creators, brands, and even platforms, but it’s the unique combination of Snap’s affinity and reach with a younger audience and eBay’s legendary status as one of the earliest websites to engage in ‘online shopping’.

If you want to add an eBay listing to your Snap, follow these instructions:

  1. Open the eBay app and select any listing.
  2. Tap the ‘Share’ icon and then tap the ‘Snapchat’ option to automatically jump to the Snapchat Camera with the automated eBay sticker.
  3. From there, create an original Snap with the eBay sticker, and layer on using any of our creative tools.
  4. When a Snapchatter sends a Snap that includes an eBay sticker to their story or directly to their friends, the recipient or viewer will be able to tap the eBay sticker to jump back to the listing in the eBay app.
