TikTok just released an overview of its Halloween options for 2022, showcasing a specific focus on how TikTok creators are building experiences around the event, as opposed to tools and filters created by TikTok itself.

This is an interesting approach, seeing as how social apps would normally announce a range of new themed options for major events and holidays. But TikTok is taking the opportunity to instead highlight top creators, which could be a good way to help bolster their exposure and increase their reach.

Spooktacular

To start, TikTok has highlighted two user-made Halloween AR filters – a new ‘Skull’ filter by @aramkk5, and a ‘Zombify’ effect created by @paigepiskin. As you can see, these creator-made filters hit the mark of the theme, showcasing the skills of top AR creators present in the app. This is a good way for TikTok to build better links with these users, while also encouraging engagement and interaction.

TikTok’s also hosting a new, creator-led recipe series, as well as a costume showcase:

“Over at @myhealthydish, you can catch My Nguyen’s 21 Days of Pumpkin series, where she’s testing out recipes perfect for Halloween and beyond. For treat-worthy costume inspiration, Angelica Torres @candylover89official is serving all the looks, from the always-classic Mask look to a creepy spider.”

Again, besides touching on other relevant trends and elements that could potentially branch out to other niches (i.e food, fashion, etc.), this is a good way for TikTok to highlight some of its top creators, while also tying into the theme. In doing so, TikTok is providing more perspective on the scope of creative talent in the app. Of course, brands shouldn’t miss out on checking the Creator Marketplace too.

When it comes down to it, it’s pretty amazing to consider the level of talent on offer, along with technical skills and TikTok-specific nous. Lastly, TikTok also highlights these popular Hashtags for the spooky season:

  • #TikTokHalloween
  • #HalloweenLooks
  • #HalloweenDecor
  • #Halloween
  • #DiaDeLosMuertos

The Wrap

These could be good considerations for your seasonal TikTok marketing efforts and, again, underlines why incorporating creators into this Halloween push is a clever move, as opposed to simply pumping out official effects and stickers. This relatively simple push also once again highlights TikTok’s ability to stand out, taking what is normal on most other platforms and giving it a personal twist to deliver its audience a different and often more fulfilling experience.
