Especially for those who are big on all things TikTok, this announcement might just complete your year. TikTok has just announced its second ‘For You’ Summit, which will focus on the Southeast Asian market, seeing it host a range of sessions with creators and platform experts alike to showcase the latest opportunities for marketers in the app.

As TikTok explains:

At TikTok, everyone’s in on the fun – especially brands. In this 70-minute event, learn how TikTok is evolving marketing in the region with the power of joy and entertainment. Take-Two

Taking a lot of inspiration from the format of its original For You summit, TikTok says that the sessions this time will focus on measurement, content creation, and ‘Shoppertainment’, all of which make up some of the most trending and popular trends of the times.

Keep in mind that this is TikTok’s second For You summit, with the first being held last July. TikTok’s specifically hoping to further develop its set of eCommerce tools and integrations – hence the ‘Shoppertainment’ mention. There will also be various insights on the latest in-app behaviors and usage trends, helping marketers better plan out their tie-in campaigns.

Commerce is a key element for TikTok, just as it has been for its Chinese sister app Douyin. Moreover, TikTok needs to up its commerce game because its current creator revenue share programs aren’t looking too great. Yes, TikTok does have its $500 million Creator Fund, along with profile tipping and donations, but it still lacks the appeal and magnitude of the revenue models featured on both YouTube and Instagram. True enough, recent creator uproars on TikTok have highlighted that the platform’s monetization layout is a little skewed compared to the level of effort they exert.

At the same time, TikTok is the trending app of the moment, and with more marketers looking to get a little slice of the pie, now’s the perfect time for TikTok to capitalize on that interest and maximize its revenue intake, facilitating more monetization and funding options.
