Meta had just announced the date for its 2022 Facebook Communities, with the virtual event scheduled for October 21st, wherein Meta will bring together moderators from various Facebook Groups to provide key insights and tips, while also sharing previews of upcoming Groups tools and features.

As Meta explains:

“The Facebook Communities Summit is back. Join us virtually to celebrate inspiring community builders, hear from Facebook leaders, and learn about a number of new products and features to help you build, grow, and support your groups.”

Journey to The Summit

Previous Communities Summit events have seen the launch of various new tools and updates, so it could well be worth tuning in if you’re looking to stay up to date with the latest group moderation options that could help maximize your Facebook community.

In particular, Facebook Groups remain a key element of the broader Facebook experience. Despite the app, overall, losing engagement, Groups are a key interaction space for many people, on many many niche topics, and given that the main Feed is becoming more divisive and political, many users have switched to Groups to avoid all the drama and instead engage with like-minded people in a more private and enclosed way.

True enough, Meta itself has repeatedly noted that Facebook users are sick of the politically divisive content in the app, and Groups offer some respite from this. With almost two billion people still logging in to the app daily, it can be an important connective consideration, as well as a good alternative for community-building. The same is also a consideration for brands, or at least it should be if not already. It’s theorized that by building connections within these communities, brands could potentially tap into group-related niches or various fanmade groups.

Meta has also been working to add in more monetization options for groups, which could also provide new considerations in seeking to meet your target audience where they’re spending time.

The Wrap

Given this, it could be worth tuning into the Communities Summit happening later this month; it’ll surely net you some useful and up-to-date information on Facebook Groups, as well as provide insight as to where things would likely be headed. Besides Reels, Facebook Groups are one of the most prominent engagement elements around, playing off of Facebook’s massive user count and reach to help augment a brand’s capacity to earn money and grow its own audience on the platform. If you’d like to know more, then we highly recommend attending. Sign up here.
