Meta’s seeming to also want to get into the art industry. Well, more like it wants to better highlight the rising opportunities in creative for its Metaverse push. To help this new endeavor along, Meta’s introducing two new art installations that make use of mixed reality elements in their presentation, highlighting how thin the Metaverse makes the line between the physical and the digital. ‘The Meta Museum’ – sounds like a worthy project itself.

Getting a Bit Artsy

The first of these is called the ‘Meta House’ activation, which is set to drop just in time for Miami Art Week. Again, this particular ‘piece’ will feature mixed reality experiences by emerging artists like COVL, YONK, and more. Please don’t ask us if those names are an acronym because we don’t honestly know; they might just be artistic touches, get it?

Check out this mini-documentary Meta created. As it stands, digital artists seem to be discovering new forms of expression within Meta’s digital environments, which Meta looks to highlight, along with their potential, thus promoting future opportunities. It all sounds very aligned; are digital artists finding new ways to express yourself digitally within digital environments? That statement even managed to squeeze in some alliteration. Amazing! Meta House is set to also feature live performances from Doja Cat and GloRilla, making it a pretty glamorous push. Hopefully, Meta gets a big boost from it.

In other news, Instagram’s launching a new showcase exhibition that’ll feature the works of Tomas Karmelo Amaya, which also makes use of mixed reality elements.

“The exhibit ‘Embracing Our Sovereignty’ offers a glimpse into the lives of Amaya’s Indigenous family, friends, and collaborators. For Amaya – a writer, director, and multidisciplinary artist who is A:shiwi, Rarámuri, and Yoeme – AR is a new space. In collaboration with Hayato Kuno, a visual and technical artist in Japan, Amaya used Meta Spark to add layers of meaning and storytelling to three of his images.”

Through these activations, Meta aims to better integrate itself with creative communities, providing more avenues of monetization and expression with its various tools. The Metaverse is a big project and Meta knows that it’ll need the help of a lot of creators to have a shot at continuously creating sustainable, engaging, and unique experiences. Even with its expertise and abundance of resources, Meta knows that it can’t do this alone. If it means moving to the next level, then Meta knows it also has to better align itself with these elements.

The Wrap

This is somewhat new ground for Meta, so it’ll be interesting to see how far Meta goes and how far Meta is willing to push it to get the best possible outcomes. Will it really help make the platform more appealing for emerging artists? What do marketers have to say about it? These are some pretty interesting questions and soon, we might just get our answers.
