Why “Growing” on Instagram can feel pretty hard…but shouldn’t be!

Struggling with knowing what works, and doesn’t?

Wondering how to navigate contradicting advice from different “gurus?”

Scratching your head about how to implement (or even if you should!) every little new feature that comes out on IG?

As we start to close out 2021 I thought it would helpful to show you all how simple it really can be to get out of the “I want to grow, but don’t know how” slump.

Here are 5 things you can do….and do NOW!

1. Get Micro and Macro with your content

Using a mix of both is the key! Micro content is short and entertaining (quotes, reels etc) and will attract new followers. It is also super shareable! Macro content is your longer form like carousels, blog-like longer captions which will keep someone on your content longer.

2. Do reels….and lots of them

The growth level I personally have achieved and seen our course students achieve through reels alone is insatiable. The reels algorithm works to push new content to people who aren’t following you yet! The key with reels? Do NOT forget to add Call-To-Actions at the end of your caption!

3. Niche Content

Knowing how to speak directly to your ideal client in your content is more important than ever as we get ready to move into 2022. If you have been wondering why your content doesn’t seem to be connecting with anyone, and conversations aren’t happening about business…well then it is very likely that your content is not speaking directly into the heart of the person reading it.

Your ideal client needs to read your posts and think, “wow that’s me!”, or “wow that is the exact question I have been trying to find the answer to!.”

Remember that trying to talk to everyone will get you nowhere…and the riches are 100% in the niches. Pro Tip: Make sure your bio says EXACTLY who your ideal client is…and saying “I help first time home buyers” is not a good example!

4. External Sources: Your email list and Personal FB

One of the best ways you can grow on Instagram is…well OFF of Instagram!

If you are not already, you should focus on bringing in new audiences to your Instagram through external sources like your email list and your personal FB page.

How can you do that?

  • Send and email to your email list telling them to go follow you on your IG. Make it short and sweet with a button to help them easily get to your account. Also include a picture of what your current Instagram Feed looks like to grab attention.

  • Your personal FB page is your tribe. So, use it! Post the hyperlink to an Instagram post on your personal FB page and let people know they can go see it on IG. If they click it, it will automatically open your Instagram! (even on desktop!)

5. Collaboration

Think collaboration, NOT competition when it comes to trying to grow on this platform. Connect with other loan officers or realtors or vendor partners, and do cross posting with one another. Do live’s together! And document it all.

Another Pro Tip: If you go to a coffee shop, post a picture in stories and tag the coffee shop. The idea is that they will see that you tagged yourself in their store, and then RE share you in their stories. Thus, adding a TON of new eyeballs on your content!
