Clubhouse finally joins the circle of apps that have a ‘Dark Mode’ by introducing its version of everybody’s beloved dim display. The option is now being rolled out on both Android and iOS.

In Clubhouse’s own words:

“[Dark mode is] exactly what you’d expect — light, but not too light, text on a velvety dark background. This makes it easier for night owls to hang on Clubhouse until the wee hours of the morning (and might save your battery life a bit, too).”

Dark Clubhouse

Though not entirely sure about battery life, dark mode options have always been designed to save your eyes, improving your overall health by reducing the impact on your Circadian rhythms as caused by blue light emissions. Blue light displays help improve your device’s readability during the day, but also have adverse side effects in low-light situations, such as causing your brain to stop producing Melatonin, eventually leading to disrupted sleep cycles, making it hard to fall and stay asleep.

So while most people who support dark mode just like that the option ‘Looks Cool’, it actually serves a functional purpose. Especially for those who work long nights and spend what would otherwise have been sleeping time in front of a computer screen, the option might just be worth turning on.

Fortunately, you can now do this on Clubhouse! Being primarily an audio-focused environment, one wouldn’t even need to look at their screen very often. Regardless, dark mode is there and is up for consideration. To switch on Clubhouse’s dark mode, first, go into settings. Select Dark Mode, then choose whether to leave it on full-time or match your device’s settings.

Clubhouse dark mode is rolling out for iOS and Android devices beginning April 14th, with a full rollout taking ‘a couple of days’ to complete. To add, Clubhouse is also currently testing games rooms as another engagement and conversion prompt option. Clubhouse’s new games rooms enable users to host social games, beginning with a new ‘Wild Cards’ option that presents a series of questions designed to spark a couple of in-app conversations.

The Wrap

While certainly being the last update you’d expect from Clubhouse, dark mode is here and it’ll likely be here to stay. Though not something new, the option does add to the app’s accessibility. In the best possible scenarios, dark mode stands to make participating and reading conversation messages a more pleasant experience, even in dimly-lit instances.
